Holy cow. My first completed manuscript was north of 200k. Pretty awful manuscript, all around, and I hadn't given thought to the length at all. It included every barely coherent rambling passage that occurred to me. I can't imagine writing 399k in a single project, but huge kudos to you for getting it back down to 120k. That's a feat, and it must have taken some time.

The 399k manuscript was awful, too. Practically fanfiction, really. Thanks for the kudos. It took about 10 years, roughly. I didn't work on it continuously, though. I took breaks to work on other novels in between.
