Hi! I'm a mother of three almost adults and that makes me feel old! I have never ever EVER written anything except when forced to in school. But I am an avid reader and for the last few years I have these characters milling around in my head, having conversations, dealing with internal conflicts, going to the grocery store, falling in love...I feel inspired to put all of that action down on paper(see how old I am, I write on a computer but I still refer to paper) if for no other reason than to GET THESE PEOPLE OUT OF MY HEAD. If writing doesn't rid me of the characters that live in my imagination then I think I might need more help than just a writer's forum :)

Anyway, I have some questions about the process writing, is this the place to ask or is there a better forum for than?

Hello Guppie, :welcome:

There are similarities between fiction and academic writing. Act I (introduction). Act II (body). Act III (conclusion). For research papers..... Survey the landscape (read other books to learn what's been done). Collect secondary research (e.g. learn craft). Do your own primary research (i.e. asset creation for your stories). Data analysis (application of craft, such as plotting). Defend your paper (i.e. beta readers after editing your own work).

You found an awesome community.

This is a nice way to think about it, makes it seem not so overwhelming!
