I'm returning to my creative writing roots after spending several years in a different career. I double-majored in science and writing in undergrad. My current project is literary historical fiction set in Ireland in the 1840s about a man who can't come to grips with what is happening around him, and who can only see success in very narrow terms he's defined for himself. I'm on my fourth draft of this novel, so I'm excited to get involved, meet some potential beta readers, and learn all about the querying/agent/publication process. Looking forward to getting to know people, and to diving into critting!

Hello and :welcome:

What kind of writing did you major in in undergrad; creative, technical, other?

Thanks for the warm welcome!
It was creative writing; I mostly focused on poetry at that time, so this is my first finished attempt at a novel (there's a crappy half-written one in my drawer).

Everyone starts from somewhere. You found an awesome community to improve in over time. I think the common consensus is it takes a lifetime to master the craft.

Welcome, Prima! Your novel sounds pretty fascinating. As a proud Welsh-American, I like all things Welsh, Irish, and Scottish. I hope to visit those countries one day and get some further writing inspiration from them.
