October is national Selective Mutism Month

I know this is late, but I just found out that October is Selective Mutism month. As someone who has struggled with this serious social anxiety issue, I really encourage people to read up about it. I hope to get rid of some of the stigma and hopefully give people some awareness of this is and that the person isn't just "quiet" or "shy".

Selective Mutism is where a person can only speak in certain places (usually their home) and get such bad anxiety in public that they can't speak even if they wanted to, so here's an article I found (that's also book related). It pretty much sums up what Selective Mutism is. I relate to it on so many levels. Especially the "I'll talk next year" routine.

Anyways I too have selective mutism (Starrystorm and I are twins). Thanks for making this post. I was going to but never got around to it.
