Hi from the Sunshine Coast, Australia

Hi folks,

I'm loathe to join another forum as I'm in a few already. But none for writing. So I'm joining.

About twenty years ago, I started to write a novel. Even had a big 5 interested. But it was self-indulgent twaddle. I lost interest, they never chased me. Ultimately it disappeared into history along with the floppy disks it was saved on. Over the years I wrote extensively but informally in relation to religion and my cultic upbringing. Apart from that first attempt at fiction, I haven't felt a desire to write commercially. I didn't think I had anything worth saying. Recently a story began to brew inside. I hit the ground running and have about 53k words of the first draft written. Initially I thought it would be one book but the storyline lends itself naturally to a trilogy so I've had to rethink the arc, and how to end what is now book one.

I do a lot of music production for commercial use and also dabble in photomanipulation art. Fantasy stuff for album covers mostly.

Thanks for your offer. I'll reply in kind. Be more than happy to find reading/writing partners. I have some first draft readers who are just enjoying it as it comes, but none of them are critiquing yet... thankfully.

Thanks Helix, apart from the smoke, we're safe. But it was terrible. I know the area. One of my work colleagues, her daughter lives there. I think they just narrowly missed having their house destroyed.
