Dear Literary agent
Hi, my name is Daniel Lichter I am a comic book artist and I wrote and draw a nonfiction graphic novel for middle graders. I would like to know is it a problem if my graphic novel was translated into English? My English isn't my mother's tongue and originally I didn't write a book in English. However, I am in the process of translating it by a professional translator. Would you think that literary agents would consider representing a book if it was translated from a different language?

Thank you,
Daniel,

I'm not an agent but I'm prepared to weigh in.

This all hinges on the quality and commercial potential of your book. If it's really strong, and the translation you've commissioned is very good, then yes, agents might well be prepared to represent you. However, it's a very competitive market, and you'll struggle to find any agents who represent writers and illustrators of graphic novels, let alone those in translation.
