Hi All…
Firstly, I would like to thank one of your members Andrea of ‘Book Club Forum’ in providing me with your coordinates. In fact, I signed up with them believing that it was a writer’s site. (in the meantime, they are all wonderful ‘book worms’)
‘Writer’s block’ is the main reason for my presence while living in the hope that someone may provide me with a few pointers.
I’m in my early 70’s with dozens of unpublished manuscripts gathering dust in the attic; as such, I decided to get down to some serious historical fiction writing. That was in 2013 !
I’m a former Lance Sergeant in the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards and I live not far from Waterloo in Belgium. My battalion was on Wellington’s precious right flank along with the Coldstream and Grenadier Guards…, and I want to ‘rewrite’ the Waterloo history books. (lol…, obviously an exaggeration)
I’m not an Historian; I prefer the term 'battlefield detective' and because of it, I have discovered quite a few extremely important elements that turn many of the traditional Waterloo stories on their head.
The research has been non-stop and while being a serial entrepreneur, I took it in my stride when deciding to self-publish and with it, produce a modified screenplay in book form…, something which I’m sure many experienced Authors would avoid. In the meantime unfortunately, I asked friends for their points of view and was informed that the book’s layout is too complicated.
As such, I decided to start again !
I’ve posted this as an introduction before going into detail. But where ?
Have a nice evening.
Kind ReGuards…, Iain.
