I'm not bragging, I'm just saying. So now I have echidna and wombats and about seventy-gazillion types of birds including satin bowerbirds and a kookaburra family of five.

Whatever you do, don't let anyone at Crown know.

(Also, pics or it didn't happen. :D )

According to 60 Minutes, high-rolling tourists are being invited to hunt and kill wombats at a luxury hunting lodge run by a Chinese businessman who is a Crown partner with alleged crime links. It is just one of many of the bizarre and legally grey activities that the Federal Government has aided the casino in providing for their international guests. However, Crown Casino will not be adding Australia’s most bankable athlete to that list of high priority guests, after failing to lure him out of the IBIS Budget Hotel that he checked into down the road after the racist incident.
The offer to go wombat hunting was also declined – after Simmons pointed out that shooting wombats is sick and depraved and not really a service that Crown Casino should be providing people with.

I haven't seen it yet. Just scats and tracks. I shall call it Frank.

*sniffs*

*is honoured*

The only wombats I've ever seen were "nature's little speed humps" on back roads up near the Murray. It'd be lovely to see a live one.

Frank Wombat is new here, and I don't want to scare the dear little thing, but I promise to sneak out next week and see what I can shoot. With my camera. Obvs.

Disclaimer: I'm a very bad nature photographer because impatient. Also clumsy.

Oooohh, you're so lucky! After otters I think wombats might be my favourite critters.

I actually touched one on the butt once. He was chilling out on a pitch-black dirt road near Nowra and I needed to get past, so I got out of the car and asked him politely to move on, which didn't work. He totally wasn't fazed by me getting nice and close either. So I gave him a gentle nudge and off he went. I was on my way to a party (I hate parties) so it was easily the highlight of my night :)

Ralph's side of the island.
I saw a wombat in the bush once. We were camping in some incredible forest somewhere along the east coast when we disturbed it and it suddenly ran off, startling us.

They certainly can startle. I myself have been startled by a wombat.

I always pictured Pterry's Luggage as a particularly footsome wombat.
