There are few actors who manage to keep reintroducing themselves to new audiences decade after decade, but Rip Torn was one of them. Iconic in so many roles. I think I'll just sit here imagining him teaching "nerds" how to play dodgeball in eternity.

I saw that he'd died only a few minutes ago. Great actor, largely underappreciated.

Today I learned that Rip Torn was recently still alive. :tongue

Seriously, though I'm sure I've seen him in multiple films, and though I cannot for the life of me recall a single one unaided by IMDB, how can one forget a name like "Rip Torn"? How genius was that choice?

-Outspoken wrd to civil rights and the anti-war movement.
-Underrated character actor later in his career with impeccable comic timing.
-Genuine wildman who got in a fight with Norman Mailer and bit a chunk out of his ear.

RIP. Shine on you crazy diamond.
