Nudging an agent

How long should I wait before sending a polite nudge? I got a full request several months ago and haven't heard a word since. When will it be ok to send a nudge? And what do you say in your email? I want to be polite, of course (I have 2 other full requests but these agents clearly stated that it takes them X weeks to read a ms, so I'm still in the time frame).

I wouldn't nudge any sooner than the three-month mark.

Agreeing with the 3 month mark. What you say: Remind the agent of his/her request and say you're checking in case it's lost in cyber space (it does happen, and I did have one that did).

Did you get an acknowledgement of the full submission? That's the first thing to check.

Yep, three month mark at the minimum for a nudge. Just drop them a brief email asking if they had had a chance to read it yet and that's all you need to say.

Yes, I received an acknowledgment of the full submission. And I meant how long should I wait after the three month mark has passed? Should I wait 4 months? 5?

A polite nudge the day of the 3-month mark is acceptable. If there's no response to the nudge, I wait another month or two and nudge again. If I still get no response, I nudge again around the 6 month mark. If there's still no response, I assume it's a no and I don't bother nudging again.
