As of a day or two ago, word is she wrapped the third book in the series, with plans for a fourth.

I don't think she's been mentioned before, but for those who like their fantasy light and based in legend, and sometimes a little bit of a tough pill to swallow, Catherynne Valente is superb. I would start with her book 'Deathless'.
