Who Is Your Favorite Author?

Perhaps Tharckeray. I am fond of that entire line of British 'satirical' writers running from Sterne through Austen to Thackeray and Trollope, and on to Waugh.

But then I'm also a great fan of Tolkien and Hemingway.

I love reading the novels of Iris Murdoch - they take me to lives unlike my own.
But I love reading the writing of Philip Roth - every word, every bit of punctuation, is exactly right!
