I have Final Draft 8. Should I update or is it still suitable to use?

I think it should run okay, since you already have it installed?

You've probably searched for this yourself, the tech support page says no more FD8 downloads/installations are possible, and also suggests that activation support for FD8 stops in July:

https://finaldraftsupport.force.com/s/article/Final-Draft-8-and-earlier

Which shouldn't stop your FD8 from running. But if anything goes wrong, you'll have to upgrade.

Always backup, backup, backup your files!

Yes, it has been installed on my laptop for many years. Yes, I have seen the tech support page which has led me onto this question of updating. I think I'll stick with FD8 for now. I always backup files. Can I convert the FD8 files in the future if I need to? I would update but money is tight ATM.

Just in case, you might want to also export your scripts as RTF or as formatted text, which other programs can import if FD8 ever fails you.

Newer versions of FD should be able to open your FD8 files fine, if you do eventually update

Thanks for the help! Will save as RTF too. As long as I can send my scripts out to the appropriate people...
