breath holding
shadows
nocturne gray

weave of lamplight

increscent moon-glow
dusk down
and honey-heaped
about the bay

still more of stars
in the lap
of wave water

blue mountains
now puma,
lie down
with a cat's purr

boat cabin windows
single the sky
marlow yellow

red dust maps
on lantern light

creep of bow thrust
against tethers
twines the night

then comes
the touching

intimacy
of hulls
bows
and sterns

of sounds
stolen
from oceans

a plummet
of breath holding
time

all the sails
having been
furled
and the fish
gone
home
