LOL. These days blue hair is not odd. My 60 YO wife has blue hair, she thought she was being edgy... then I told her my grandmother did the same thing.
One of the TV networks here has a sports commentator called Damien Fleming and his co-hosts all call him by his nickname, which is Flem. To begin with I did associate it with phlegm but when you hear it enough times it becomes normal. And that’s with just the audio (there is only one word with that pronunciation); if it was in written form, i.e. “Flem” then perhaps that would remove some of the association, especially if used with enough frequency?
