Day 16

Draft - 451

Revisions - Article

Polish - 1 chapter, 1 scene.

Research - Asexuality

Submitted - What Nightmares Might Have Come to The North Gwinnett Voice newspaper.

ap - WTG on word count! I’m a pantser too. Outlines mute my muse.

Starry - :snoopy:

Gough - :snoopy:

Layla - Nice half page!

My article turned out to be one of my all time favorites. It’ll be published in about two weeks.

I finally made closure to a new scene in the 2nd draft of the crime novel.

WGough: Yay, you’re back! Woohoo lots of words! Handwritten? Is the book good?

Layla: Yay 1 page! Crafting sounds very therapeutic.

Cindyt: Woo for fav article and words and revision and research and EVERYTHING!

I got 3k yesterday (a combo of typed and handwritten—my hand is still building up its pencil-holding strength!) and then I read through an old MS that I’m gonna whip into shape.

Day 17: Decent bit; 8.5 miles; fluffy ducklings

Day 17

Draft - 69

Revisions - An interlude

Polish - 1 chapter, 1 scene

Interview - With an old-timer who has a treasure chest of stories about growing up in my small town. She wants to get them recorded before her time runs out.

April - :snoopy:

Gough - Speaking of a workhorse day, you didn’t do so bad yourself. WTG!

Layla - Half Page Woo!

I was able to turn a hmmm interlude into something I’m satisfied with.

I wrote a scene related to my story, but not sure if it’ll make the draft or not. I still haven’t identified my protagonists.

Day 16
Edited a few pages. Tore my hair out a bit.

Day 17
Finally unpicked a problem area, and wrote 1200 words and know what needs to happen next (a whole new chapter in a MS that is already too long, urgh)
I also finished Story Genius, Lincoln in the Bardo and nearly finished A Room of One's Own. When I get stuck I read...

April - glad to hear the enthusiasm is back, and wow it shows, 3k words AND reading through a MS, I'm impressed!
Gough - Nice word counts, and that sounds an interesting book
Layla - It always seems like you have a great balance of things going on. Well done on the growing WIP
Cindy - the interview sounds fab! Good luck with the sub, and congrats on the drafting and revisions
Taylor - hope the protagonist raises their hand soon :)

Eek, it's been a crazy few days.

Happy Sunday, All!

Day 16 was 0, Day 17 was 432, Day 18 was 0 words added, but I did sit and do some age/year calculating I realized a week ago needed to be done and had been putting off.

Pingle--I do the same thing, reading when I'm stuck. I've done a lot of reading these past few months.

Pingle: I’m not the pantsing type, I HAVE to know what I’m doing before I write or else I’ll veer off a cliff.

Day 18
Revised previous day's work. Drafted/transcribed 2147 words. Got sidetracked by Travel Man.

Layla: So much done! Congrats on the half page.

April: Take care of that pencil grip. Pause for cramping. A super productive day for you! The book is an academic work, but not as dense as some, and quite excellent. Not a breezy read by any means, but worth the effort.

Cindyt: Documenting lived histories. That is amazing!

Taylor: Nice job!

pingle: Way to push through. Invest in wigs. Love Saunders and Woolf! I'm with you. Reading widely and outside my genre clears the cobwebs. Or complicates them. Deliciously.

iFaith: :welcome: Good luck with your goals!

ap123: Ages, timelines, all those logic necessaries. As a reader, I appreciate the effort!

Day 18

Draft - 13

Polish - 1 paragraph

Pingle - You accomplished a lot and wrote 1200 words too! Woot! :snoopy:

iFaith - :hi:

Gough - 2147 words! Love writing lived history. I have two guest posters on my blog right now and wish I had more. :snoopy:

I had a dark night of the soul that lasted 24 hours. I was like, I’m going to stick with my nonfiction newspaper stories, because I suck at fiction. So, I pulled up my big girl panties and will soldier on. I may not be John D. MacDonald or even Erich Segal, but I am Cindy Wiggins Tapia and, unfortunately, that’s all I can be.

Day 16-19
Slump. Been doing some research but tomorrow I need to get back in business. If I want to submit this short story the deadline is Thursday. And I need to make some serious progress on my novel prep. Aaaand also I have a fair bunch of other stuff I need to deal with. But I fended off a depressive episode so that means I'm fit for fight instead of debilitated for a week.

Nice, Taylor :)

WGough--You got a lot done! And yes, making sure things like years/ages line up are important, they bother me as a reader if they don't.

Cindy--I have many days/nights like that. They always end eventually--even when I'm wishing they wouldn't.

Magnus--taking care of yourself so moving forward becomes a possibility are the most productive and necessary days of all.

Layla--you're holding steady, making progress every day, nice!

Day 19--486 words. Though I'm certain I typed well over 2000 words if I was counting all I wrote and immediately deleted. This scene still isn't quite right. Just not sharp enough.

Taylor: Top marks for writing a scene, regardless of where it ends up!
pingle: Woohoo for unpicking a problem! Love it when that happens.
iFaith: Welcome!
ap123: Well done keeping at it amidst the crazy!
WGough: Woo for lots of words! Oh, I might have a read of it then.
Cindyt: Another way to look at it: your uniqueness is your greatest strength (that goes for all of us).
Magnus: It takes a lot of strength to fend off an episode, so well done you.
Layla: Enjoy that summer chair :)

My head, heart and soul are firmly planted in Westeros today so I didn’t write anything. Instead I worked on a revised outline for my old MS. Just one of of those days when my brain is too busy with other fictional characters to have any space left for my own.

Day 20: Decent bit; 6.5 miles; THE FEELS

Days 17-19

I spent the long weekend on vacation and didn't bring my laptop with me, so I didn't do any writing on my current WIP; I worked on my next project instead. I started organizing scenes and figuring out where they're going and have the first seven chapters planned out.

Sorry guys, I'm really struggling to work out my plot. I've got good scenes but I can't tie them together.

:(

I'm spending too much time fixing problems with our house; it wasn't maintained well by the previous owner.

Day 20
Drafted/transcribed 1362 words.

Cindyt: Hate those nights. You're amazing! Keep going.

Magnus: Way to beat the blue demon!

Layla: Congrats on the two half pages. Welcome, summer chair!

ap123: It'll get there, as I'm sure your work always does!

April: I, too, succumbed to the call of Westeros yesterday. Le sigh.

aurora borealis: Love a good planning.

starrystorm: Nice word count.

aurora: Nice work.

starry: Woo, 277 big ones!

Keithy: I’m sending some magic story dust.

WGough: I have been unable to focus on real life since! This series has blown my mind. Can’t believe it’s over :(

Layla: Woo 1/2 page!

ap123: Third time’s the charm!

I cannot figure out the next chapter for the life of me and I can’t stop thinking about certain scenes from certain epic TV shows. That is all.

Day 21: Wee bit; 7 miles; OH MY HEART

I finished up Chapter 5 of my fantasy novel revisions. Now it's on to Chapter 6.

I still need to write the story of my first-hand experiences with ghost in a photography darkroom in the house I grew up in.
