She remarked on an unremarkable moon
and brought to rest her teacup
in the perfect porcelain center
wreathed in roses, thorns and all.

He escaped from the inescapable truth
and brought to rest his worries
on her slender shoulder bending
like the hours, ever small.

Perfection.

I love the mirroring here, remarked and unremarkable, escaped and inescapable. You always carry so much in so few words, it's a true pleasure to read.

Haven't read one of your poems for awhile William. What a nice one to start with. Makes me feel I am there, experiencing just what the poem wants me to.

Lovely capture of the quiet moments that reveal how troubled, glorious relationships are humanity's most impressive inventions. Move over, iPhones--here's midnight tea.

Binaries are skillfully used here...then ends with an analog thought of smallness.

Masterful poem.
