Hands on the keyboard.
Mods, slap my wrists if this thread already exists here or belongs elsewhere. :)

Shamelessly stealing this idea from a different thread! Share the last line you wrote in your novel. Did you end a chapter, or leave on a cliffhanger so you can jump right back in when you start writing again? Did you leave off in the middle of a sentence? Post below!

I left off when my alarm informed me I had to get my rear to work. (That's real life. The line is below.)

Sean managed to push it all aside. He had to. Easter was coming, and Easter is as stressful as Christmas for a parish music director; perhaps more so.

The part of Kansas that doesn't look like the part
I haven't been active here in some time... but now's good a time as any to get back in.
This is literally the line I just wrote about 30 minutes ago:

He lay down on his side and stared off into the distance.

Nothing too exciting, but yes, in the middle of an exciting scene:

Why was he hesitating, why didn't he open the door?

Leave the money in a paper sack near the red dumpster, or you'll never see Mr. Squigglepuss again!

But, to be honest, that wasn't really for my current novel. More of a, uh, side project.

Just in the middle of a thing:

She found him on the sidewalk, slipping into his navy pea coat.

WIP set 40,000 years ago:

The elders spend all morning talking about the wolf people.

WIP where the MC's a 15-year-old cloned Neandertal: (note: Neandertals had shorter childhoods than modern humans - this line's a bit boring in isolation, sorry!)

He said “Carl is not a child, nor is he a Homo sapiens, so laws for Homo sapiens children are wholly inappropriate for him.”

I'm also having a go at writing a STEM themed book for kids aged 8-11:

It went down. It didn’t stop at G for ground floor. It went all the way down to B.

“Tell you later.” Elena flung the blouses back on the bed and snatched the laundry from Susan’s arms. “Thanks. Go away.”

Eyes fastened on his prey, the big cat reaches out a heavy paw and swings his shoulder and leg in one continuous sweep.

*I think I could love this thread. It's sort of weirdly evocative and hang-it-out-there, all at the same time.*

He began to see how it might be possible to deal with Ned.

I was practically gliding over the sand by the time I heard truck engines.

He sounds as if it’s the first time anyone’s suggested the idea to him.

Thrilling stuff, I think we can all agree...

Somewhere up there
