The light landed on Voltamius, blinding him.

The hair on Mackie’s arms stood up and she shuddered. “What do they say?” she asked, not really wanting to know.

“I was...at the airport.” Mackie hung her head. “I just needed--” She paused. What was that word her parents’ new therapist was always saying when talking about their grieving? Closets? No. That wasn't right. Closure? Yeah. That was it. She took a deep breath. “--I just needed closure.”
