I'm thinking of using the word 'businessier' in my science fiction/built world stories. In general, I'm trying a variety of things to downplay gender (ex: i am not crazy about using the words businessman/businesswoman) I don't care for the word 'businessperson' or 'business owner' as these feel too blunt. Too determined to point to a lack of gender. Too visible. To me.
But 'hotelier' is an accepted word with no associated gender, and I'm thinking I might be able to apply that suffix to other words that don't otherwise have a good gender-less version.
I guess I am asking for feedback. If you saw the word businessier in context, would you take it in stride and easily learn it? Something along these lines:
Since taking over the bakery, she'd found the life of a businessier quite satisfying.
