Prologues: Yay or nay?

I would never ever write a prologue. I like to jump right into a story and often a prologue just seems to take me out of a story before I even get into it. HAVING SAID THAT, I would NEVER NOT read a prologue. I have heard a lot of people say they just start at the beginning and ignore the prologue. I can't do that. I feel like they're there for a reason...and I have to read it. They just piss me off.
