I've had some characters in my head for five years. They are what made me what to be a writer in the first place, so I feel that they deserve for their story (which has evolved so much) to be told.
I'm not working on their story right now. I'm working on something else--which I am nowhere close to finishing--but I'm the type of person who worries about the future.
Anyways, my story idea is basically about a alien family (mom, dad, and son) who start out trying to discover what type of species the dad is but end up finding more secrets about themselves. Since two of the three POV characters are adults (the mom and dad) I figured it's a book for adults, but am I allowed to write a clean adult book? Clean meaning no swearing, no drugs or drinking, and no gross adult stuff. Basically, it would have the maturity of a PG movie, but 2/3 of the MCs would be adults. Is this allowed? Could it even be classified as an adult book?
EDIT: The adults would deal with adult problems on top of the adventures like work and being a parent.
Thanks!
