Plus, I really don't have the money to sink into editing, cover design, book design and promotion for a book that still might not sell. And the recommended marketing strategy for self publishers--to publish in much shorter chunks, every couple months, isn't too conducive for my preferred genre (secondary world fantasy).
That about sums it up for me. I'm the world's worst self-editor and it's likely I would need developmental, grammar editing and final proofing, a cover from scratch and correct formatting for multiple versions. Along with any expense for promotion and marketing, and I would be saddled with a fat little bill, when I'm actually trying to bring in a few dollars. I'd also require a hard copy. So sticking with trade is my best bet and always has been, even though I'm technically a hybrid.
