I can't exactly remember where I got the info to sign up for this forum, but I've been struggling recently with having a conversation about the work I'm attempting to write. Myself and an illustrator are working on a slew of 8 pg comics for online publication.

The only wall I've got to bounce things off of is an Illustrator who's trying to figure out how to make our comic project work on his end. Criticisms usually come down to 'eh' or 'I like it!' with them. I appreciate that they have their own set of problems to deal with, but I'm really looking for help/a community dealing with the issues that come with writing something that involves a good amount of co-ordination and teamwork to complete effectively.

The thing I'm most excited to use this forum for is to critique/beta read. I'm open to try out anything, given it's not an entire manuscript. I'm also looking forward to learning more about how other writers structure their stories, as well as gaining a better understanding of the craft from other disciplines than my own.

IN SHORT:
-WORKING AMATEUR
-WRITES COMIC SCRIPTS
-EXPERIENCE WITH RADIO DRAMAS (ALL ASPECTS)
-BETA READER: YES

Other possibly useful information:
-I'm trained in Classical and Jazz as a bass-player as well as being an active, although, sadly broke, musician. Familiar with pit playing for musicals.
-Experience in recording studios for both 'Live' and 'Piecemeal' settings.
-Lived in a lot of different states and counties throughout America.
-Listens to a lot of Afro-Cuban and Hip-Hop

Thanks for reading! If anyone has a direction they think I should be heading in (not very used to forums, so I'm sure it'll take me awhile to find my footing), send 'em my way!

Welcome! Make yourself at home. :welcome:

Sounds like You've got some interesting things going on. Can't say I've ever written for a comic, but I'd think from a structural standpoint, outlining/storyboarding would be crucial to provide a framework for the two of you to work harmoniously.

Just my two cents...good luck!

Welcome aboard! This site is a real resource for any writer. I've always loved graphic novels but never considered writing one, sounds like fun!

Ouch. My sympathies, friend, that must be so frustrating! I skirted around that whole issue myself by deciding to do all the jobs myself. Ask me how my graphic novel is coming along! hint: It's not! XD

I completely understand your frustration. It's so hard to find good criticism around here!

I'm a newbie too. Good luck out there! :)

There's a special Comics/Graphic novels subforum.

The best way to start if you want to beta is to crit; you can crit someone else's work without having to have 50 post.

Checkout Share Your Work; read the stickies first, and a couple of threads to get the idea of how to crit helpfully.
