I thought this was a joke when I read it on Twitter, but according to NBC News, it happened.

Far-right activist Laura Loomer handcuffs herself to Twitter's New York headquarters

This person was banned from Twitter last week for a tweet accusing newly elected Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat and Muslim, of being "anti Jewish and pro-Sharia law."

So Loomer handcuffed herself to one of the company's doors in NY. Police showed up, spoke with Twitter officials, and then told NBC News, according to the story,

"Twitter has said it won't press charges and Loomer can stay chained to the door as long as she wants."

Yea, boy, she really showed Twitter.

I'm still laughing.

See, I think we need to have a serious discussion about entitlement and why pro-social people don't go around happily generating the specious...

With no sense.
Doesn't she realise that a big building will have a back door, and, probably a loading dock? Employees may enter and exit freely. How many Twitter users even know there's an actual building.

So, there's a woman chained to the front door? Why do I suspect that New Yorkers have seen bigger, more exciting sights? And probably just ignored them, as well.

(The Twitter people should put up a sign, far enough that she can't grab it: "Our members can bear to leave us!" or, put out a bucket for donations for mental-health funding.);)

Just checked the link - she asked to be unchained (bolt cutters) at about 6 PM ET. Two and a quarter hours? Modern protesters got no stamina. Of course, judged by the 'New York Minute', it probably seemed longer.

As someone who regularly commutes to NYC, I can confirm. This would certainly be an oddity, but most people would barely acknowledge it. They are probably late to something because of the stupid transit system.

I respect peaceful protest, but maybe put some more thought into it?

Kind of reminds me of a story line in the comic strip Bloom County. Sleazy lawyer Steve Dallas had to go bail his sister Kitzi and her fellow sorority members out of jail because they were arrested for protesting apartheid in South Africa. He arrives at the jail and she announces she and her sorority were on a twenty-minute hunger strike.

Then it turns out her sorority doesn't even allow black women to pledge.

On the topic of the NYC transit system (sorry, that was the topic wasn't it?) can I just say as an outsider - as an Australian, in fact - you should just be grateful. It's better than you think.

What a perfect response. That's an oft successful response taught in parenting classes depending on the situation.

If witnesses are to be believed, she was wailing into a bullhorn, telling people to go to her active social media accounts, Youtube I believe, to hear all about the injustice being foisted upon her, when one passerby yelled "Shut the F*** up" and continued on their way.

With no sense.

No need to use the back door. She handcuffed herself to one door, leaving full access to the door right next to it. According to witnesses, people were going in and out that door, while giving Loomer odd looks.

Maybe she left after such a short stint because she had to pee.

The definition of of 'entitled' and 'privileged' are wrapped up in thinking "They cut my Twitter off!" is an injustice. Ask the poor, the tired, the huddled masses and the POC how much they wish that was their only problem.

Should have thought about that beforehand, shouldn't she? Maybe actual protest groups could have explained the technical aspects to her.

Lone aggrieved whiners with bullhorns are a nuisance, but frankly, most wouldn't even register this type of nonsense.

I honestly didn't understand this. Is she not a NYer? Visually impaired? My mid sized building has 4? 5? other exits besides the front door. Did she not see the multiple other doors next to the one she handcuffed herself to?

Apparently the police blocked her pizza delivery. Guess she got hungry.

Since it's not nice to speculate on the mental state of people and I'm trying to be a little kinder/gentler to those who might be a few fries short of a Happy Meal, I'll simply provide a little context on who Laura Loomer is and how she utilizes her Jewish identity as an offensive weapon in her righteous war against Islam and Muslims.

Loomer's first big stunt was a poorly-produced "sting" for Project Veritas in which she attempted to create a "humanitarian pro-ISIS" club at her school, Barry University. For this, she was suspended and faced criminal charges. She also has secretly video-taped professors and smeared them as ISIS sympathizers, breaking Florida law of filming without consent and also violating code of conduct, creating a disruptive and hostile community for the students and staff.

Laura does not like teh Mooslins not even one little bit.

Leave it to Muslims to ruin everything. People can't even enjoy #Halloween without those savages fucking everything up for everyone.

How many more people need to die before everyone agrees that Islam is cancer & we should never let another Muslim into the civilized world?

There's no such thing as a moderate Muslim. They're ALL the same. It's time for us to accept this reality. I refuse to watch more ppl die.[SUP]][/SUP] The Quran explicitly tells followers of Islam to kill all infidels. Why are people trying to pretend like this can be interpreted? #BanIslam

Someone needs to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver.

My life and the life of other innocent Americans is more important than some Islamic immigrant's feelings. I will continue to speak truth.

Laura has problems scoring a non-Muslim ride in NYC.:rant:

I'm late to the NYPD press conference because I couldn't find a non Muslim cab or @Uber @lyft driver for over 30 min! This is insanity.

Someone needs to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver.

I generally try to not support Muslim owned businesses companies here in NY. That shouldn't be hard to do in US, but w/ immigration it is. Nearly every cab @uber @lyft driver in NYC is Muslim. It's extremely unfortunate and this is a conversation we need to have for our safety.

Laura gets in her feelings seeing Muslims in NYC.:rant::rant:

Muslims are out in full force at the scene of the NYC #ISIS attack today rubbing it in everyone's face. Aimlessly walking around in hijabs. You'd think they'd have the decency to not walk around in hijabs @ cross street of the attack. But they don't. I bet they're loving this.

Laura has weaponized being Jewish. :rant::rant:

Lefties may call me a Nazi, even though I'm a Jew. But I promise you I am not paid by ACTUAL nazi Jew @georgesoros

Black supremacist @tariqnasheed accusing me of being modern day sonderkommando. But my grandfather was arrested in Berlin for being a Jew

As a Jew, I am calling total bullshit on the @ADL_National for claiming to fight hate while they spread hate against conservatives.

I was already taking legal action against @Uber before they banned me today. They are a highly anti Semitic company and endanger lives.

And so it begins. Twitter is quick to call me and others Nazis, but they are literally trying to eradicate my presence. Just like Hitler.

Laura darkly hints suicide is a possibility for those denied their social media fix
.

Laura is a Drama Queen. Put her on Ignore and keep it movin'. :gone:

No uber. No Twitter. No pizza from the shop on 53rd (they're really harsh about prank orders). Lost her key to the handcuffs.

Pretty soon she'll have to sit quietly in a corner...

I have some bad news for her about who cooked her pizza if she's anti-immigrant. Maybe she should just walk and have a salad. Oh wait.

Srsly, it's nauseating to think about how many are willing to go along with her hateful program. Because whatever pushback she's gotten/consequences she's faced, it's that willingness to go along that has the US where it is today.

Just want to mention that, in spite of her frequent call-outs about Muslim immigrant drivers, none of the people who supposedly 'follow' her have offered her rides. You'd think her fellow-travellers would relish the chance to travel with their fellow?
Or is it likely that no-one wants to be stuck in a small enclosed space with her? And Muslim immigrant ride-share drivers are thanking Allah that she won't ride with them?

She's kind of a stunt princess.

Besides the Project Veritas and the Uber thing, she also once
"notoriously disrupted a Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar.

Before being escorted off the stage by security, Loomer shouted "Stop the normalization of political violence against the right! This is unacceptable!"

Someone didn't get enough attention as a child. Or maybe she got too much. It's hard to tell..

Neither Shakespeare nor Caesar would appreciate being used for her posturing.
Shakespeare: 'Hie thee hence, wench!'
Caesar: 'Tace, mulier!'
Chorus: 'First thing we do, let's kill all the hecklers!'
