Basically, it amounts to different cropping that occurs on your banner at the top, depending on whether or not viewers are seeing it on a phone or a computer. If you've got it optimized for one, it probably looks odd on the other. He gives you a good compromise cropping that doesn't look too wonky on either.
My Facebook page looked terrible on phones before I went through this, so I found it useful. Hope someone else does, too.
