C's jigsaw puzzle
is a lovely picture of a castle
by a river

in the upper left corner
a portion of sky is missing

perhaps it wandered away
from the box that sat
in the closet for years
waiting to be assembled
to be brought to purpose

is this what is happening
to you, your growing restlessness
your tendency to protect the smallest
positions, your need to create and win
the same argument again
and again

has some tesselated piece
organized a search for its source
a bit of cloud
an unhassled rain
a single shaft of sunlight

a place to bathe
and wash away
what's clung to you
too long
