I thought it might be fun to share some of our historical crushes.

I quite fancy this guy, "The Tailor" by Giovanni Battista Moroni. There's something about those eyes:

This one isn't all that historical, but it did make me see the person with fresh eyes. The picture seems to be from the early 1960s.

Edit: Oh, duh. I didn't say who it is. It's Ian McKellan.

I have quite a thing for the ladies of the silent movie era.

I think dinner with Clara Bow (and only dinner, for real) would have been a hoot

And trivia: Cartoon character Betty Boop was based on Helen Kane

Zenobia of Palmyra.

Would also kick it with Queen Tomyris of the Massagetae, but doubt I could keep up.

Then there's also Neruda's squeeze, Matilde Urratia*. I think I have a thing for redheads.

*IIRC, she only had one face.

Wow, talk about an attention-grabbing thread title! :D

Gian LorenzoBernini, for me. Every time I see one of his self portraits I assume he would be a the lead singer in a rock band in this era. (I admit, my feelings about him may be biased by the emotion he packs into his sculpture. *fans self*)

His David could pass muster as a historical hottie, too, tbh. :tongue

This fine looking woman could've been a member of Destiny's Child (or Destiny's Great Great Grandmother)

I *love* that woman's jacket, snafu! It's so cool--asymmetrical and with that braid on it! And her blouse underneath is lovely, too. It would look fabulous without the jacket. And her expression is wonderful, too: a little imperious.

All five of the Llewelyn Davies boys (the boys who inspired Peter Pan) were good-looking. I'm fond of these pictures of George:

And this one of Jack (he was in the Royal Navy):

And their father was a handsome man, too:

J.M. Barrie, ironically, was a pretty unattractive man.

Versailles, it could just be me, but I'm not seeing an image.
