Very small thing for us, too. I always feel like I'm getting cheated, and like I'm cheating my kids because they don't get the holidays I got. But afterwards I'm almost glad. It's just the expectation that are so low. Ha, and they are met! not really, we always have good ones.

My brother has a lovely family tradition where his kids get to open one present Christmas eve, but that present is always new pajamas (the kids know and expect this). It not only gets them excited to go to bed, but come morning they're already in cute new PJs for optimal photos.
The funny part, though, is that he's convinced this is a tradition from our own childhood. It's not. Great idea, but we never did that one!
