Reminder to those who wish to nominate for the Hugo Awards next year, you must have been a member of Worldcon 76 in San Jose, or be a member of Dublin in 2019 by December 31, 2018 to be eligible to Nominate. Get your membership soon!

The Best Series category is now a permanent part of the Hugo Awards. Bujold's won it twice in a row, now. Who will win next year?

The Young Adult Award now has a name--Lodestar. This is Not A Hugo (tm) but will be on your ballots.

Here is the Ladybusiness Spreadsheet (AKA Renay's Hugo Spreadsheet of Doom).

What do you plan to nominate?

Dublin in 2019 has decided add a Hugo Category for Best Art Book. Link goes to a press release published on File 770.

A tab has already been added to the Hugo Spreadsheet of Doom. Read up on those Art Books!

Note for a specific subset of people:

IF you were a member of Worldcon 76 in San Jose AND
you did not give them permission to share your information with Dublin in 2019 THEN
you need to do so if you wish to nominate for the Hugos.

Kevin Roche notes that due to European privacy laws, Dublin cannot get your contact information from San Jose unless you give San Jose specific permission.

So, if you're planning on nominating for the Hugos and you WERE a member of San Jose but are NOT a member of Dublin, contact San Jose to allow them to pass your information on.

(If you were/aren't a member of either Worldcon and want to nominate, JOIN DUBLIN IN 2019 TODAY. TODAY IS THE DEADLINE.)

If you were an Attending or Supporting member of Worldcon 76 in San Jose and you have not received an e-mail from Dublin in 2019 with your nominating details, this may be because Worldcon 76 does not have your permission to share your details with Dublin due to European Privacy regulations.

If you think you're eligible to nominate, and didn't get an e-mail, check your spam and promotion folders and then contact [email protected] for help with sorting it out.

This also applies if you signed up for two memberships with the same e-mail address, or changed your e-mail address since you bought your membership, or if someone fat fingered an e-mail address, or you never gave them an e-mail address to start with.

There is also a paper ballot in the latest Progress Report.

So the Nebulas have had an incident of probable slating this year. Check out File770.com for one take on it.

Slates fail when enough people nominate. The more nominations, the more likely a slate is to fail.

If you are eligible to nominate in the Hugos, PLEASE DO! Even if you've only read one or two things you love. Even if it's only in one or two categories. Nominate what you think is worthy!

On-line electronic Hugo voting is open and the packet is available.

JJ at File 770 has made a post on what is available in the packet.

If you are a member of Dublin in 2019 you should have received an e-mail telling you how to get to the voting pages and download the packets. If you have any questions, the contact e-mail is [email protected].

If you want to vote, you must have at least a supporting membership. Memberships are available here.

You now have one month left to vote in the Hugos (or purchase a membership and vote).

The deadline for voting is Wednesday 31 July 2019 at 11:59pm PDT (GMT-7). At that time access to the ballot and Hugo Packet will end.

The packet is available. You can download each category by clicking the links at the top right hand corner of each category of your ballot.

ONE WEEK LEFT!

At least check your e-mail to see of you have the voting link and it works. The Hugo Help Desk ([email protected]) is going to be overloaded this next week, I presume. Get in before the rush.

The deadline for voting is Wednesday 31 July 2019 at 11:59pm PDT (GMT-7). At that time access to the ballot and Hugo Packet will end.

Hugo Award voting is over, and now we wait for the results.

I didn't get a lot of feedback on this thread. Do people want me to do this again for the 2020 Hugos?

Wow. The awards ceremony was amazing, from Jeanette Ng's Campbell acceptance speech (calling out Campbell himself for being a fascist) to Charles Vess' beautiful illustrations of Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea books to Mary Robinette Kowal's paean to inclusivity. Just brilliant!

I would. I don't participate every year, but I'm always interested in who has eligible work and what people think about it, and about the awards ceremony itself.

Echoing that I enjoy watching these threads, even if I have nothing to say. I consider it worthwhile to keep an eye on awards like this, to see where the genre is going and how far it's come.
