The US has proven repeatedly that it values the right to weaponry above the right to simply live. We could easily solve this problem, but we prefer to pretend that it's terribly complicated, that it's never a good time to talk about it, that it's strictly a mental health issue (which we'll also do nothing about), and that it's what our musket-toting founding fathers truly wanted.

Sandy Hook was not a national catalyst for gun control. Nor was Parkland. The only thing that will get the U.S. gun nuts to change their minds if we blow their brains out. But then we become them, so that's no solution either.

The US will not solve this problem. Good luck everybody in the daily US mass shooting lottery. May the odds be ever in your favor!
