Happy November, all you writers who want a place to monitor your progress for the month! This is the November edition of our monthly progress thread, and whether you're doing NaNo or not, you're welcome to pull up a comfy chair, state your goals, and get ready to work and to cheer your fellow writers on!

I'll start us off, as always. I've decided to do NaNo this year, and I'm equal parts excited and nervous about it. I love Camp NaNo, but I'm always a bit intimidated by regular NaNo's 50k goal. I'm hoping participating will get me back on a regular writing schedule, and if I can get some good words out of it, so much the better!

Because of NaNo, I'm going to limit my other goals this month:

[ ] Do 50k words of NaNo - 0 of 50,000
[ ] Read three books - 0 of 3
[ ] Publish my newletter

So what about you? NaNo, or not?

I only found these monthly goal threads last week! I haven't participated in NaNo before, so I suspect I've never clicked into the NaNo subforum before. My loss! I would love to participate. Thanks for hosting, mrsmig. :Hug2:

This year has been a real challenge. I've had a debilitating condition for the past four years and a flare late last winter set me back and wrecked my writing flow. I was starting to rebound from that by May--when I got hit with back-to-back cancer diagnoses. Two surgeries and a stint of radiation later, I'm determined to retrain my brain and find my flow.

I jumped back into critiquing a few weeks ago as a starting point, and I'm using NaNo as a means to discover my new writing groove while having some fun in the company of AW friends.

[ ] Complete Half-NaNo of 25K (0 of 25K)
[ ] Write every day November 1 - 7 (0 of 7)
[ ] Write every day November 8 - 11 (0 of 7)
[ ] Write every day November 15 - 21 (0 of 7)
[ ] Write every day November 22 - 28 (0 of 7)
[ ] Write every day November 29 -30 (0 of 2)
[ ] Draft short story or novelette
[ ] Crit at least five excerpts or queries (0 of 5)
[ ] Physical therapy twice per week (0 of 9)

Happy goal-seeking to all!

I'm in! My first NaNo this year... I've been writing for other people for a long time and this is my first real time in my adult life that I'm writing for me, as me. I'm happy to learn by trial by fire, and I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't make the end-goal of 50k, though I'm sure gonna try! I'm hopelessly busy so my biggest hesitation in the past for NaNo has been not having the time. Gonna really try and commit this year. Happy to be with y'all!

Hey, Riv! :hi: I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope they keep improving.

I don't have a lot of goals for this month - all my distracting from writing stuff seems to be done. (although I'm certain I can still find stuff to distract me *g*)

Only two little goals for this month

[ ] write 5 scenes for The Crystal Throne
[ ] start edits on A Place of Our Own

I've been waffling over whether to do NaNo or not. I fell out of my writing groove a while ago and have been trying to get it back. So, finally, now that NaNo is only a few hours from starting, I've decided to go for it. I need it.

I've got a vague idea and a few characters. I'm not a pantser in any way, but who cares? My main goal is to kick start myself back into a consistent writing habit. If, as happened the last time I tried to pants a NaNo, my characters go on strike and demand a plan, I'll come up with one then.

My official goal for November:
[ ] Write every day

Hello all, NaNoers and notNaNoers!

My simple goals:

1. Do NaNoWriMo
2. Read three books.

I've gotten off to a good start today (since it's the end of the 1st for me) with writing on my train commute and during my breaks at work. Hopefully can do the same tomorrow since I have a massive weekend coming, and I need my evenings to prep for it :S

Simple goal for me - complete NaNo and write at least 10 chapters of Fortune Favors the Bold. That should be about 50,000 words, but knowing me, I'll need to overachieve to get there.

Right. This month I'm going to be focusing on NaNo, so I think I'll just keep my goals to that and the editing one, unless I think of something later in the month.

[ ] NaNo Goal 1 - 4
[ ] NaNo Goal 5 - 11
[ ] NaNo Goal 12 - 18
[ ] NaNo Goal 19 - 25
[ ] NaNo Goal 26 - 30
[ ] Edit every day: Week 44 (November portion)
[ ] Edit every day: Week 45
[ ] Edit every day: Week 46
[ ] Edit every day: Week 47
[ ] Edit every day: Week 48 (November portion)

A new month is like a blank page! So many possibilities. *Inhales the crisp fall air*

My goal is to edit my entire manuscript this month.
Not sure if that counts but I want to edit four or 5 chapters a week.

I wasn't going to NaNo this year because of life stuff. But I just came up with a great idea that has potential to be written about. And it's all in a genre I've never really written or read before. So here goes:

[ ] Come up with a title for a modern Robin Hood Retelling
[ ] Get NaNoWriMo page set up.
[ ] Write at least 7 days during week 1: 11/1-11/9
[ ] Write at least 5 days during week 2: 11/10-11/16
[ ] Write at least 5 days during week 3: 11/17-11/23
[ ] Write at least 5 days during week 4: 11/24-11/30
[ ] Get 50K word crappy first draft
[ ] Have a celebratory drink for above check marks

You don't have to be doing NaNo to state your goals here, Chaki1718, so of course your editing counts. Welcome to the thread!

I don't have a week by week goal, but here's my general plot:

[ ] Finish reworking outline by 11/3
[ ] Start drafting the story by 11/4
[ ] Hand write as much as I can from Wed-Sun
[ ] Transcribe everything I wrote on Mon & Tues
[ ] Profit?

So far I'm on track. I'm debating on going to another write-in tonight from 7-10, but we'll see how I feel. At least I won't be struggling to stay awake until 3 AM, haha. Gotta love first shift. Good luck everyone!

I start my Nano novel tomorrow, Nov. 2. It won't be my first novel, but it will be my first time doing Nano.

[ ] Query twenty more agents for novel 1 - 0 of 20

I may be doing a modified Nano after I finish a few work things. I haven't decided yet.

[] Modified Nano?
[] 5 pages of BEP (Big Editing Project)

Annnd that's it. I have a feeling things will be crazy somewhat through this month, so that's all I'm declaring.

I haven't been here in a while but I just cannot NOT do Nano, lol. This will be my 8th year in a row. Yay!

[] Write 50k for Nano. (This is a spin-off from another WIP, so shouldn't be too difficult.)
[] Finish draft of WIP (Currently 90k/???)
[] Spent 30 mins per day studying Italian

I just started my Nano novel, writing my vampire novel for the third time. I already wrote yesterday's words and now I'm writing today's words. I am going to do 2,000 words a day, 30 chapters, so my novel should be about 60,000 words, the shortest novel I've ever written.

End of the first (partial) week of November (and NaNo). How is everyone's progress thus far?

Overall things are on target for me: I finished a book (The Ravenmaster by Christopher Skaife, a nonfic about the Yeoman Warder who looks after the ravens at the Tower of London) and have started Demons for Tea, by AW's very own Calla Lily).

I'm pretty much on schedule with my NaNo project after the first two days. I still find it hard to write at the rate I need to achieve the requisite 50k words (I cannot resist the urge to rewrite and edit as I go), but the act of sitting down and actually writing on a schedule is not, in and of itself, difficult. And that's progress.

[ ] Do 50k words of NaNo - 2,994 of 50,000
[ ] Read three books - 1 of 3
[ ] Publish my newletter

It's always hard for me to write on Saturdays. This is a BIG problem in November.

[ ] Read 2 books

I'm doing okay so far and meeting my word count targets.

Good luck to everyone attempting a full Nano :)
