I just listened to a CBC radio program about a 98 year old woman who at the age of 60, picked up a camera for the first time. She became fascinated with the life and the hardships of women who lived in rural Saskatchewan and would go and photograph them and record their stories. One thing that she noticed that was common to all, is that despite raising a dozen children or more, looking after the garden, farm animals, etc, they would still aspire to be creative in someway.
Anyway I thought people might find her interview as interesting as I did and the link also has an edited written version of her interview.
