Hi

I’m new to the book writing world. I recently finished my 1st manuscript. Currently I’m looking for a literary agent and editor. My book is a non-fiction, self- help book. I am trying to determine which agents I should send query letters to. Any advice?

I also wanted to know, on average how long does the process take after obtaining a good agent, to get the book published?

As to your last question, I've heard it can take a year or two before your book is published.

There is no time table for acquiring an agent or getting a book published. The websites Agent Query and Publishers Marketplace can help with identifying agents who represent nonfiction. It is best to cross reference those agents here in Bewares and Backgrounds to check their reputation.
