Greetings! My name is Stephanie J. Cress & I have been meaning to make an account here for some time. For years, Absolute Write has been my go-to (along with SFWA) to search for information on potential scammers & vanity presses.

I am a fantasy writer with two short stories published (in a micro/indie publisher anthology) & one novel, Gilded Shadows, published with a mid-list house (New Link Publishing, the spec fiction imprint of Mystic Publishers, Inc.). I'm currently working on book two, which is taking a bit longer than I had anticipated.

I grew up an Army brat all over the U.S. & even lived in Germany when the Berlin Wall fell. I settled in Kingman, Arizona where I facilitate the local writers' group & try to be active in other literacy/arts related community efforts - when I'm not working at the county assessor's office as a land appraiser.

Um, I'm not sure what else to say about me. I have a Siamese cat. I'm a Capricorn. ETC.

Thank you & have a great day!

Welcome aboard. I was stationed in Germany for a while near Wertheim; I rotated home in April of 89, just missing all of the excitement.

That'd be crazy, wouldn't it? But my dad only ever reached E-6. (I forget his company, I was a surly teenager at the time). Edit: and no other family stationed overseas at that time that I know of.

I'm not a military brat but I come from a military family. I lucked out that my mom quit after having me. But my older sister was born in Germany a year before they started tearing down the wall.
