Abbreviations at the end of sentences.

Nice meeting you all.

Here's something I've always wondered, if you have an abbreviation at the end of a sentence, should you drop the ending period? Here's the sentence:

"Like you were the only real life person playing and everyone else was just an avatar of some A.I.."

Also with an abbreviation like "A.I." do you need the periods at all? I haven't seen them use periods in technical articles they just seem to use AI.

The period at the end of an abbreviation serves also as the sentence-ending period. Never double them. In the case of "AI", that would be called an initialization, not an abbreviation, and it's perfectly okay. Other typical examples would be things like NAACP, NCAA, CBS, etc. And, just for info, these are not acronyms, because an acronym (NASA, FIFA) is something you can pronounce as a word. Initializations and acronyms don't use periods.
