Hello, everyone! My name is Tracy and I live in Virginia in the good ole USA. My only claim to fame thus far has been winning 16th place in the literary/mainstream category of the 77th annual Writer's Digest Short Story competition for my story Death's Relief. It is the only contest I have ever entered, and that was almost ten years ago, but as there were more than 17,000 short stories entered, I am pretty proud of it. I then put down writing for fun and focused on getting a BA in psychology, while raising a young daughter on my own and was halfway finished with my MA in Addiction Counseling when I hit a wall and took some time off. I am now picking up my first love, writing for me, again.
I have several writing projects going on right now. I am more than halfway finished with a non-fiction book of lessons that I have learned in recovery (I am a recovering addict with almost nine years clean from all substances including alcohol). It is self-help mixed with famous quotes and a little humor thrown in. But the project I am most excited about is what I started as a short story that feels more like a novel to me. It's genre is fantasy, which is what I like to read the most as The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are my all-time faves! This story is no Hogwarts wanna-be, however. It is about two creatures that fall in love, but must carry on in secret or risk being imprisoned due to the Cohabitation between Species ban that exists in their world.
