A quick check of ALDI TV spots from around the world on YouTube yields 3 major pronunciations of the name. Countries more recently introduced to the grocery chain tend toward the Americanized pronunciation.

So, how do they say it where you live, world?

We say ALL-dee. It's Italian, and my region has a large Italian population, so I'm trusting they're saying it right.

Aldi is German.

I say it as AL, as in Capone, DEE, as in the fourth letter of the alphabet.

Not where you last saw me.

Yup.

Or, yanno, as in the shortened and modern branding of the original name Albrecht Discount.

ETA: Just wanna add that the first Aldi I shopped—because of a friend's rec—was in Marion, Ia.

other.
ALL-dee. I find that I actively dislike Al-dee. Never encountered it before, which is weird, now that I think about it.

But, however you say it, I love the Aldi. Cut my grocery bill by about 1/3, even with organic items.

Iowa boy here, so this is correct. Don't forget you gotta make it possessive, "Aldi's."

Casey's, Woolworth's/Woolco's, Ben Franklin's, Trader Joe's, Aldi's.
