four falls ago
when sex
was the body’s fix

the prince of the harvest
told the weeds
the story of the elephants
and the Machabees

how we make rules
to break them
or have them
break us

that was when
monkey blood
cured everything

entering the fifth
fall he retold
the story with two-thirds
of a tongue

less, but sharp
like a flaming
acupuncture needle

he divulged
the cleric secrets
explained why seven
sister roses spill
through their shades
to white

the multitudes within him
abandoned him
for the circus

he touched the walls
and ceiling in his descent
afraid to slip
and shatter his
unfixable form

Interesting imagery; at first read I have no clue, have to ponder on it a while. It rather smells of politics, but not sure at the moment. Did like it, though.

Thanks, Porlock.

It’s about Walt Whitman.
