I'm having a problem with AW and no other site. I'm connecting on a laptop running Windows 10, which automatically updates, using a current version of Firefox. AW crashes anywhere from once to four or five times in a row, then it's fine again. Each time I see this message:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to absolutewrite.com.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

There's a Try Again button and it works, but this morning I had a second and a third crash within two minutes. Now, it's as if it never happened.

This isn't a big problem for me, but I'm informing the website owners of this problem.

Are you on WiFi?

Have you cleared your cache and cookies, closed the browser and logged back in?

Yes to wifi, and yes to all the others.

It's not much of a problem, so if it requires no action, I'm all for that.

It's not much of a problem, so if it requires no action, I'm all for that.

If you are sure you know your WiFi and Router login, try completely shutting off your WiFi Router, unplugging it, waiting about three minutes or so, and starting it up again.

It looks from this end like the connection is dropping from your end.

We're showing continuous uptime, and I haven't changed anything in terms of AW's software in months.

That particular error is sometime associated with "mixed" http and https on a page, and aggressive security software rejecting a site that isn't "pure" https.

So a "mixed" site that has image links or URLs that aren't https:// can be a problem. There's no way I can correct all the images and URLs in posts and sigs to use https:, and lots of sites are still not using https://.

Shutting down the router will force it to purge its error buffer, in case it's simply assuming that the current page has the problem.

And I am sorry for the frustration.

Thanks for the how-to. I don't know the wifi/router log-in, but I'll see if Mr. Maryn, who set it up, will do a reboot later today.

This may be relevant, or not. Does AW behave the same in Google Chrome (or some other browser other than Firefox)?

If only Firefox is problematic, see if an updated version of Firefox exists. Help tab (top of Firefox). Click "About Firefox." Click "Check for Updates."

I've had success with simple browser upgrades when facing peculiar browser problems.
