The centre court big screen just showed Scott Morrison at the Aussie Open, and the whole crowd booed.

Ah, Melbourne, how I love thee.

Yeah, twitter went a bit cray cray too. And not in a Morrison-affirming way.

I love that Morrison also started booing, presumably thinking the crowd was booing a bad line call or something...

Although this tweet from ScoMo hasn't been ratioed...

@ScottMorrisonMP How good is @ashbar96!

...pretty much all the replies reflect the mood of the nation.

My estimate? About 67,840 Scott Morrisons.

You crawling toad. Ash’s glory is not going to rub off on you. Useless grub.

Congrats Ash. Glad no one is using your brilliant game for political point scoring.

Hey Scott remember that time an entire river system was dieing and instead of addressing the massive ecological and economic crisis you were at the tennis. Good times.

and the perennial

ETA: And my favourite so far:

FFS @ScottMorrisonMP! This is like the *fifth* time you’ve posted one of these posts with an exclamation mark.

A man who doesn’t understand question marks has no business governing a country.

Yeesh. I feel like the contents and tone of those comments are almost equivalent to being ratioed. I scrolled a looong way and couldn't find even one positive ScoMo comment (though I imagine if he read them, he'd write them all off as being from leftist twitter activists and not reflective of 'real' Australia).

Ah okay. I'd seen it around a lot. I thought it had something to do with Twitter based on context, but wasn't sure.

That's quite the tweet from Canavan.

Are they still archiving tweets? Because I feel that is the kind of deep thought that needs to be preserved, so future sentient life can know us better and (more importantly) know not to bother cloning us.

That ahistorical plum in charge of the country has now decided to spend millions on building a replica of HMS Endeavour to re-enact Cook's...*checks notes*...circumnavigation of Australia.

He's trolling, right?

And following ScoMo's selection of Warren Mundine as the Lib candidate for Gilmore, the locally endorsed candidate, Grant Schultz, has resigned from the Party and plans to stand as an independent.

So this is going well...

Look, what with W. Mundine not being an actual member of the Liberal Party just yet, I think it was brave call to chopper him in. A very brave call.

So many rats, so much sinking. I'm wondering if the LNP's internal polling is even more dire than the public polls, and they're all clawing over each other to escape the generational wipeout. There can't possibly be enough cushy corporate and consular jobs for them all. Particularly for the dregs. Last one out's a rotten egg potato.

I'm not sure how much more of this I can stand. What an absolute 'ken mess.

ETA: But, yanno, we get a new replica Endeavour to go with all the other replica Endeavours clogging up the place.

Tony Abbott will direct a Liberal Party social media campaign mach*ine on the back of almost half a million of his Facebook followers in a bid by the federal party to mobilise its centre-right support base as an election counter to the left-wing activist group GetUp.

From the Australian. Here's the link, but it's a short article lacking in detail, so probably not worth giving Murdoch the clicks.
