Well I’ve taken the plunge and joined a writer’s forum. :hi:

It seems to be fairly active here. I’m hoping to use the experience to learn more about the craft. To learn about how others write and, in doing so, better understand my own writing.

About myself: middle-aged, male, leading a busy life with family and career at the center of it. I love writing and like to flatter myself and think I’m good at it but in truth it’s a matter of escapism for me. I like world building, the freedom to live not just in my own shoes (comfortable as they may be) but to see the world through the eyes of others. My writing is sporadic because I lack the discipline and, to some extent, the time, to sit down and plug away at it every day. Some weeks I write a lot, on others I come up empty.

Favorite genres are science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy. But I also have a little bit of a classic, literary bent.

I will now get back to reading the many “stickys.” :D

Welcome! And Great choice. This place is a treasure trove of knowledge.
It's amazing how quickly those words add up, even if you don't write every day. Just don't do what I did and start with a 300k epic fantasy. haha. That doesn't end well.

I’m a native English speaker so that’s the language I write in. Despite having lived in Germany for many years, and being reasonably proficient with the language, I wouldn’t dare write in Deutsch.
