So, I saw this game on a different forum, who, for the record, stole it from another forum, and I thought it might be fun to try here. I don't know if it will work, but I'll give it a shot.

The idea of the game is that someone says a word and the next person finds that word in their manuscript and posts that sentence.

Ex:
P1: Car
P2: The car broke down. Moon
P#: The moon is bright tonight.

Awful examples, I know. If it is in a piece of dialogue write the "said" or action verb too.

RULES:
No critiquing. This is for fun, and I don't expect polished manuscripts to be coming through.
Don't pick some huge word. Be creative, but keep it simple.
No names. (unless your character is named after an object)

EDIT: It can also be different variations of the word like car and cars. Or past and present tense.

I'll start: Tree

I have a lot of trees in my MS:

"Light from their metallic surfaces cast a shimmer on the surrounding trees the way light reflects off water."

For shadows I found this.
"Somewhere in the shadows a clock ticked and on the wall was a massive painting of Carly with her hands on her hips and her lips curled back in a sneer."

I wanted to be the girl in the picture‒pink, spiky hair and missing front teeth.

Book came up with 53 results. Not surprised though. My Si-Fi WIP is about a powerful book.

Loomie shook his head. “Sorry, but I need to get you to the other half of your soul which is part of the Book of the Universe, a mysterious book that existed before the universe did.”

Fair few mentions of bed...hotels and hospitals feature heavily :D

“No, sorry. But if you get stuck here, there's plenty of space in the bed in room 303,” he winked.

The sweet smell of the apple trees, long cement roads, hills dotting the horizon, grass glowing in the moonlight.

Surprisingly, 'bench' shows up repeatedly in my MS. Maybe too often. :tongue

Stripes pulled me to a bench that lined the wall behind us and sat next to me.

Is stripes too obscure?

Surprisingly, I found four versions in one of my books. This game seems like a fun one!

She dressed in sexy underwear—a tiger-striped power bra and matching bottom—then returned to the bathroom mirror.

Donut

I have one instance of donut:

Nathan pats his belly. It’s not flat, and has never been a six-pack beyond the plastic-rimmed or cardboard variety, but it’s not the donut-shop paunch either.

I guess no one writes manipulating characters, LOL! To again try and get this one going with a new word:

It’s important you not be tainted with outside information,” I answered, manipulating him already.

Lamone shook his head. “I always wondered if you were as impatient as you appeared on TV.”

Beyond the campsite was a craggy expanse of rock wall with a dark hollow centered at the bottom—the cave Crab had mentioned, I assumed.

VIDA looked at the screen and let out a gasp of disbelief and awe. Right there, clear as a day is a real – time footage of the Student riding a wild Griphon above the clouds, leading the flock consisting hundreds of Griphon behind him.

The horses pulling the bier leaned into their halters as the procession mounted the road toward the castle lying just ahead, with the Reavings spread out around it like the spokes of a great shattered wheel.
