Can an agent have two of an author’s manuscripts out on submission simultaneously within one genre or similar genres (science fiction & fantasy)?

An agent I spoke to seemed to suggest that two SFF manuscripts could not be subbed at the same time unless one was adult and the other YA (slightly separate markets).

It's not usual for an agent to submit more than one ms at a time. It's usually best to focus on one at a time.

Have a friend who got his agent by sending out three manuscripts for a series. Though I don't think that's anywhere near the best way to do it. Otherwise, why would an agent concentrate on selling what might be two competing products? You normally wouldn't want to send one to one publisher and the other to a different publisher, would you? What if they both sold?

But, on the flip side, the world is strange and there are plenty of good stories out there, waiting to be told. :)
