How to choose a name for Apache indian characters? If for the plain Indians (Sioux, Cheyenne, Crow, etc.) would be simplier (usually adjective + noun = Tall Bull, Black Kettle, Yellow Hand), what about Apaches? Their names are particularly complicated, I think they take them from their own language, that it's pretty hard to understand. The use of names of spanish origins may be an useful solution (with the same method for plain indians = Mangas Coloradas, for example) but if one wants to create an Apache name from its language? Someone has ever had such a doubt?

Alas I have no personal knowledge, but a quick search for "list of Apache names" listed several sites, including Apache names.

A great book, The Land of Poco Tiempo, by Charles F. Lummis, contains a good deal of excellent material about Apaches (along with Pueblo Indians) in New Mexico, circa 1890s.
