Hey everyone,
I'm trying to get one of my comics listed with Diamond Comic Distributors (DCD), which I understand is the way of getting my work in comic shops.
I've hit a snag and was hoping someone with more experience could help me out.
In the application process to get into DCD, I need to list a percentage discount I offer them. I contacted the printer for my comic and asked what percentage discount they give DCD, since they told me that they work with them. But when I asked, my printer said I needed to contact my DCD rep to discuss this with them.
Obviously, I can't have a DCD rep if I don't finish the application.
What's the best way forward here? Do I ball-park the percentage discount? This is what I think is right, but I'm so inexperienced here that I'm not sure.
Also, is it normal for a self-publishing writer to pass the printing discount they get on to a distributor, or am I approaching this wrong?
Thanks! And feel free to chime in even if your specific experiences aren't with comics publishing. I'm really just looking for a mental foothold in all this.
