I'm re-releasing my book series next week, and the first one is a reasonable $2.99 to start with. I want to make the launch the most successful that I can, by actually putting some money toward marketing. But my #1 goal, really, is to get readers. So is it best to maybe lower the book to 99 cents for that day and advertise it everywhere, hoping that the cheap price will lure more people in, or stick to the 2.99 price.

If your goal is to get more readers, the $0.99 price will attract a lot more than the full price. However, in either case, you have to advertise the sale heavily, using services like Bookbub, ENT, Fussy Librarian, etc. All those sites favor discounted books a lot more than full-price books.
