Still fresh news so not a lot out there, but I heard second-hand his role will be to 'negotiate the end of Mueller investigation'. Which doesn't make sense, but sounds like something they would say. (ETA, it's on Slate)

Sounds like they're scraping for whoever they can get, but I can see Trump being pleased by this hire as he has an easy surrogate in Giuliani's hooting, preening nonsense. Might as well hire Newt while you're at it.

Chris Matthews is reviewing the Giuliani comment there was an Oct surprise coming before Comey made his last minute announcement they found new emails.

It was suspected at the time that some of the NY office FBI agents leaked that info to Giuliani and supposedly Comey was worried if he didn't announce it, it would come out in a leak.

Do slime balls ever congregate in nests?

All conjecture, but I don't know anyone who doesn't assume this was the case.

I think we sane people are beginning to suffer from weirdness fatigue. I hit the news sites online first thing every morning, expecting the daily outrage or two. Rarely am I disappointed. Never in my seven decades of existence on this planet have I had this mental mindset. It is effing wearing me out.

+ 1 to blacbird!

I keep expecting something to happen, and for all of the obvious transgressions to be addressed. The fact that they aren't is stressing me out as well!

It's almost impossible to keep track of all the chaos.

What's the latest on Jared? Anyone? How did that get buried so quickly!

'It could always be worse.'

-Russian proverb

Yeah, I've been chasing the news dragon pretty hard these days too. Not healthy. Jared seems to be living his best Jared life these days, just committing larceny out in in the open while his FiL keeps the outrage cycle churning. Someday, this will all be over, but not before the pee tape.

I agree it won't be over yet, but what's on that tape? He seems to be explosive in resisting it's existence, but he's also got a paid-off porn star making claims, and no one seems to care. What I'd like to see, for once, is his lies bite him in the ass. I do know politicians lie, but seriously, Bill was impeached for lying and we had months of roll-out on it . . . now . . this orange turd has lied and lied and lied and lied . . . and what? It's the thing that's driving me crazy! The hypocrisy!

I really wish Mueller would hurry up. November is too far away.

I could go on . . .

Sorry if this was a derail.

Yeah, there are links between Guliani and the NY FBI office, which is where they were threatening to leak the news about finding hilary emails on weiner's laptop if Comey didn't come out with it himself.

I've seen some conjecture that Guliani is taking this role in the hopes of being able to do some damage control on whatever an investigation might dig up on his role in that situation.

If that's true, I can only hope Guliani is looking for some access to info he can trade to Mueller in a plea deal or something. Could mean the sharks are starting to smell Trump's blood in the water and are close to abandoning ship.

Easier for Mueller having all the snakes in the same nest.

A few less decades here, but all of this.

I wonder why every time I see Giuliani and Trump together I hear Rob Zombie's "Scum of the Earth" thundering in my head?

Methinks Mueller is taking his time for a reason. Quoting from Comey's book:

Before I was sworn in as FBI director in 2013, I spent a week shadowing Bob Mueller. Bob, a former marine, was a bit old-school as director, not given to what he saw as touchy-feely stuff. In the grueling days immediately after September 11, 2001, for example, his wife had prodded Bob to be sure his people were holding up under the stress. Early the next morning, or so I was told, he dutifully telephoned key members of his staff—whose offices were all within a ten-second walk of his—asking, “How’re you doing?” When each offered the perfunctory reply of “Fine, sir,” he replied, “Good,” and hung up.

Trump and his lackies have no chance against this man. Mueller is just setting the vise very carefully so that none of them will slither out when he drops the hammer.

Shit splatters so I hope Mueller isn't wearing his best suit when he does.

Maggie Haberman said that Trump has been begging Giuliani for months to join the team, and Rudy's only doing so with extreme reticence. Though I've also seen that Rudy's there to reach out to rogue elements in the FBI to scuttle the investigation.

Either way, Giuliani's already got a thick case file somewhere in Mueller's office, so it'll be fun to see how this plays out.

Digging to find the reference, probably Sarah Kendizor (who I'll sadly miss speaking at the LA Festival of Books tomorrow), but I've seen talk that Trump has been begging Giuliani for months to join the team, and Rudy's only doing so with extreme reticence. Giuliani has a nasty divorce ramping up, so guess who needs money and exposure that will lead to money? I'd wager it's that simple.

Let's not forget that Giuliani demands a lot of attention. Trump might turn on him if he starts thinking the show is getting another star.

I'm just thinking he wants a cabinet position he can walk away or be fired from in six weeks like the rest of the cool kids.

He can be Representative of Legal Validation of National Tributaries. As in, "I'm RELEVANT".

Mueller just twisted the screw on that vise a little tighter today: The records of Jared Kushner's real estate compan(ies) have been subpoenaed, following published allegations of falsehoods in filings.

considering that we really can't believe most of what we hear on the news sites -no matter which ones we watch or read- I suggest reading the daily online comic strips and watching the Golf Channel. You'll feel much better.

Okay, FAKE NEWS. Now, be specific. What have you heard lately from any standard media news (excluding Fox) that you consider "fake". Is Mueller's Russia investigation and all the subpoenas and indictments "fake news"? Are the recent airstrikes on Syrian targets "fake news"? Is the nerve agent poisoning of the Russian in London "fake news"? Etc. etc. etc.

If you can't point specifically at some story that has been "faked" by the major news media, you are doing nothing but bumper-sticker sloganeering, which has about as much substance as fog at dawn on a sunny day.
