Hi, my name is Haljit

Hi everyone

My name is Haljit (the j preferably silent), and I am grateful to be apart of such a reputable and much-loved community. Long story short, my love for writing began about 4-5 years ago when I skimmed the internet and found a giant list of recommendations for new fiction writers. I usually read non-fiction, my main interest being cultural criticism and philosophy, but the idea of literature always intrigued me so I began diving into literary fiction. Along those lines, Nabokov and Joyce captivated me with their lyrical prose, probably to a fault, as ever since I've been churning out embarrassing renditions even though I'm doing my best to veer away from them (Nabokov's voice still haunts me.)

That being said, I love literary fiction and I'm moving into fantasy. I love films, traveling, skiing, hiking, and a number of other interests that I hope soon to expand.

I write short stories, but lately I've been itching to write a novel.

I know! And to answer your question Zan75: Having too many ideas is where a short story could shine, but the concentration needed for a novel is where I feel like I can gather all these ideas together and make them stick. So right now, it's all scattered in the abstract.
