Quite a year. A few highlights.

NYT & New Yorker (and by extension, the women and men who spoke up) for the expose that sparked the #METOO movement.

The photographer who captured the photo of the vehicle plowing through protesters in Charlottesville

GQ and reporter Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah for an in-depth report about the making of domestic terrorist Dylann Roof

A tiny paper in SF, an editorialist in Iowa, a commentary on Alabama's racist roots.

And perhaps the most surprising and impressive one of all, Kendrick Lamar, for his album DAMN. He is the first non-classical or jazz musician to ever win the prize.

There's a lot of social change reflected in the prizes. Let's hope it bears out.

Re: the photographer of the Charlottesville attack: On his last day of work! Talk about leaving on a high note! (With all due sympathy to the people who suffered in this horrible incident.)

I'll congratulate the Pulitzer award people for stepping out of their comfort zone with the prize going to Lamar. It should shine a brighter light on the quality work being done by some other hip-hop artists, notably Aesop Rock (whom my son thinks is a lyrical god).
